It was cold and gray when we headed over to Garden of the Gods for a run this morning. Most certainly today was one of those days when the Chamber of Commerce was hoping we would post no pictures - but we do get one or two cloudy days in Colorado! The Peak always looks cool ringed with clouds - it almost makes it look more massive than it normally does. We have had no snow for quite a few weeks, so our trails are mostly clear. It was supposed to snow today but most of the day was just gray, with few flurries starting around 6 PM.
The red rocks sure stand out on a cloudy day. This is a good vantage point on the Palmer Trail, with the red spires against the gray skyline.
Here Kathleen cruises another section of the Palmer Trail, with some pink highlights to brighten the day!
We had intended to get in 12 miles today, however, we both felt like laying down on the side of the trail to take a nap after about 40 minutes! So we did an 8 mile loop and called it all good for the day. We both have had decreased motivation to get out the last two weeks, so it must be the mid-winter blahs!!! It was a good run, we made it outside, and we are healthy, so life is good - Happy Trails!

We also finished our exhausting car shopping journey on Saturday. After the Explorer was totaled, we have been narrowing our search for a replacement that was both safe with long-term reliability, as we like to keep our vehicles A LONG TIME. We were down to the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot - we came home with this nicely maintained pre-owned Honda as our newest adventure transport! We hope for many years of trail access from this vehicle. (Plus it holds LOTS of stuff AND we could sleep in the back if needed!!!) :-)

Yupper It's ALL Good, When I make it out west I will be sure to look u guys up so u can take me around those trails.... ummm in the Honda Pilot of course --haha OK we can run a little bit also.
GOOD NEWS I finally found a good shoe, the Asics Gel Trabuco are OK I just don't have any trails by me to give them a really good test... but I found a great road shoe that I can probably use for Umstead100 because the course is not technical at all...
New Balance 1063cu, has a large toe box & great cushion, been woking out great the past week, so these shoes plus my Drymax socks I should get mor blisters under control, Fingers Crossed!!
We'll gladly taxi you and all your shoes - plenty of room!!! Glad you found one that fits well. Have you had good luck with the Drymax? We bought some of the trail model and both of us had the toes blow out on the first run(only 13 miles). Would be nice for you to not have blisters after 100.
Cool set of wheels. About sleeping in the back....that always seemed like a good idea, and I actually can do that in our Jeep and also in my Prius, but still it is SO uncomfortable! Nothing like a good bad for some shut-eye.
TZ-
We're definitely much better condo campers these days. We were just thinking it's better than a tent on the cold ground. We used to have an Astro - you could put a double air mattress in the back of it ;-) That's camping!

Nice ride! Keep Krashleen off the ice and safe.
I'm heading back down to Southern NM in a couple weeks, so maybe I can stop by for a run with you two.
Hope all's good.

Tim,
We would love to have you stop by on your way down or back up from NM. Just let us know and maybe we can have something good ready to eat. Also make sure you are REALLY tired or need a rest day when you do run with us! :-) How long will you be down there? Will Pippitt be with you?
Have a great race in Moab this weekend!
Krashleen
Sorry, just saw your response. I'll figure out when I'm going down to NM after Moab. It may be the last weekend of Feb. I'll definitely let you know. Yeah, I'm taking Pippit to both the race this weekend and to NM. He loves to travel and really loves post race food.
Take care and have a good weekend.
Tim
