Snowmass - the Curtain Call (finally!!)

We received the Official Aspen-Snowmass Vacation Guide in March and I (K) immediately became intrigued by the trail on the cover photo. When I see inspiring pictures of trails, they go on to my very long "must run or ride someday" list. The trail pictured is the Rim Trail, and yes, I got to cross it off my list as "completed". But I'll be back . . .
The Rim Trail lived up to my hopeful expectations. We started our morning with a refreshing and brisk 35 degrees (a new record low, just for us!) in Snowmass Village, and, as its name implies, the Rim Trail climbed up to and followed a sharp rim along the hills above the Village. The first picture in our previous post shows the multiple layers of ridges the trail follows. In case anyone is in need of a good laugh, we have included several new yoga poses we "invented" at the Ying and Yang Terrace that is along the trail.
Kathleen in a pseudo Exalted Warrior Pose
Unidentified man in a pseudo Warrior II Pose???

Yep, we don't do much yoga (we need to) and need some serious help! In case you didn't know, laughing is good for the soul!
We were reveling in our very fun trail discovery. It was complete with diverse sections of trail and awesome views.
Still smiling . . .
Heading up one of the ridge sections.

Steve topping out and getting ready to descend to the run terminus at the eastern end of the rim, near the Snowmass Rec Center and our free bus ride back to the top of the Village. We finished our quick trip through the mountains with a four thumbs up 8.5 mile run. Now it was time to load up the Pilot and head home!
Up and over the Divide . . .
. . . and down the narrow road with steep drop-offs and no guard rails!!! I was driving, Steve was pretending to be asleep.

One of the reasons we started blogging was to chronicle some of our outdoor recreational pursuits which basically are trail running and a little cycling. We have enjoyed re-visiting our whirlwind week of vacation and hope our couple of viewers have enjoyed seeing the pics. Maybe you will be "inspired" by a photo and add it to your own "must run someday" list! We are certainly very blessed. Happy Trails to all this week!!!

Oh you guys have it GOOD! Love love love the pics!!

Hey, Dana and I are doing a double in Albuquerque and Colo Springs Sept 5th and 6th. We are actually leaving around the 1st and plan to come to Colo Springs first for a day or so, then to maybe Santa Fe for a day or two before running the NM Marathon. Labor Day I'll be doing the American Discovery Marathon, hopefully running it for a good time. If you guys are willing, we'd love to meet up and run a trail or two with you.

Just let us know what you are up for! If you are feeling good, you should be able to do a nice time on ADTM - the trail is generally declining from start to finish.

gorgeous trail. You just put this on my to do list as well!

George - you might think about that Aspen Golden Leaf Half Marathon - I think you could probably stomp that one! And the Rim trail is just one of those runs that make you enjoy running.

I would say you are blessed to live where you do. Happy to see you get out and live it as much as you do. Plus share your experience. Keep kicking the dirt and sharing the photo's. As I mentioned as comment earlier on the previous posting - can't wait to see any upcoming Colorado Fall pix's you will have on the trails.

Awesome! Love it! Jealous! (I know it's wrong, but I can't help it)

Question - how do you get blogspot to put your pics in so nice and uniform? When I do my picks, I have them so nice on the draft, and then when I publish them they go all over, not really where I had them placed. Any tips?

Oh! Just when I think your pictures couldn't be more breathtaking, wow!!

I was going to laugh at your yoga pictures...held back and then did so when I realized you were clowning around...you were right??? Hilarious Yoga on the Mountain Top.

So sad this is the final CURTAIN CALL for now!

Meg, YES!!! We were definitely clowning around and having fun with the yoga thing. As you can see from the pix, we are not very adept yogis!
It's always good to laugh - life's too short to be too serious. Have fun!

Yes, I'm inspired! Would like to go on a hiking vacation. Great pics! And funny, too!

Tina,
Instead of a hiking vacation, why not try a trail running vacation???
If you hit Colorado, we could be your tour guides! :-)

K, that would be so fun! We wouldn't have to do your yoga poses, though, would we?!

Tina,
LOL - YES, you would have to do the silly poses - that's part of the whole Rim trail run experience!!!
:-)
