Not so pretty good.....

UPDATE:  Our voluntary evacuation order has currently been lifted, so we just have to watch the news and keep the phone close by.  We got some cloud cover, and the winds died off.  We really hope they can get a handle on this quickly as that beast got out of hand really, really fast!  Fire is now over 2000 acres as of 8 PM news conference.

There is a wildfire burning out of control in Waldo Canyon, just west of Colorado Springs.  Our neighborhood has just been put on voluntary evacuation alert.  Mandatory evacuation line is currently only 2 miles south of HT central.  We are currently sitting in front of the computer with our vehicles loaded, ready to head east.  Not a good feeling in the pit of the stomach.....

Latest pic from the end of our driveway - not good.  Fire is up to 1,000 2,000 acres and just started at noon.  We are still on standby...
This is not going to turn out well...

Kathleen and Steve, I hope the fire avoids your home. I'm so sorry to hear this! Please be safe and keep us posted on what's going on, and if there is anything we can do to help, even from up here.
Take care.

Oh no!! I saw on the news there was a fire down there but no idea it was so close to you! If you guys need a place to stay...I'm not east, but (so far) there's no fires near me. Seriously, I have a basement you can use. The house is a pit ... but whatever.

The whole state is going to be on fire I fear soon :(.

Yikes! That's about as dramatic as I can imagine.

Well, they kept that Golden fire we had a couple of years ago from traversing roughly 1 1/2 miles to the homes on the other side of the ridge, so it can be done. Looks like those planes are on it.

Oh, no!!! I am so sorry that it is so close to you!
We've got room here, too, if need me. The A/C is cranking double time!!

A few years ago, we evacuated because of a hurricane. I realized I forgot my purse/ID at home, but we couldn't go back because it took us so long to get only a few miles in the traffic. Stay safe. Praying for you.

Thinking of you guys all night. Hope the wind pushes it the other way and you all - the whole city - stays safe. My close friend's son lives there so she has been keeping me updated too. Huge hugs.

Wow, have been watching the news. Not good, hope all is well. It is really hazy up here in the valley, must be from another fire.

You have a (small) place to stay with me, anytime. Keeping you in my thoughts constantly.

I was thinking about you both yesterday when I heard. Hoping for quick containment. I think we are going to have a very rough summer here in Colorado. Be safe.
